On May 29, during the attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming visited the SCO Modern Agriculture Exchange Center, Syngenta Breeding Technology Center, Yangling Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park, Yangling Arable Land Protection and Quality Improvement Innovation Center, and the exhibition hall of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University of Science and Technology to serve the construction of national strategies, to inspect the construction of SCO agricultural bases on the spot.

Wu Pute, President of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University of Science and Technology participated in the relevant activities. Huang Siguang, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Yangling Demonstration Zone, and Yao Hongjuan, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee, accompanied and introduced the relevant situation.

During the inspection, Zhang Ming fully appreciated the achievements of the construction and development of the SCO agricultural base. He said that in recent years, based on the agricultural resource endowment, economic and social development basis and future agricultural development direction of SCO countries, Yangling Demonstration Zone focuses on the main function of “exchange, training and demonstration”, actively explores new modes and mechanisms of exchange and training demonstration in the field of agriculture, and strives to build a multi-level and wide-field agricultural cooperation platform. It has achieved remarkable results in improving the working mechanism, refining the platform function and implementing cooperation projects. He hopes that the base will continue to follow the Shanghai spirit and promote the cooperation in the field of agriculture in the SCO region to a deeper level. The SCO Secretariat will continue to support the development of the base and jointly promote agricultural cooperation among the SCO countries to move forward.
