On April 24, 2020, the Ministry of agriculture and rural affairs of China and the Ministry of food security and research of Pakistan jointly held the second meeting of the China Pakistan Joint Working Group on agriculture. The meeting was held in the form of video. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening China Pakistan agricultural cooperation, determined the next cooperation priorities and signed the minutes of the meeting.
The meeting fully affirmed China's emergency assistance for desert locust disaster in Pakistan, discussed the cooperation mechanism of plant diseases and insect pests between China and Pakistan and the draft action plan of agricultural cooperation between China and Pakistan, and made it clear that two sides will strengthen cooperation in agricultural capacity building, scientific and technological innovation, aquaculture, construction of foot-and-mouth disease free areas, investment and trade, and jointly implement the "On strengthening the prevention and control of plant diseases and insect pests" Memorandum of understanding for cooperation, and actively promote the construction of plant pest sustainable management center in Pakistan.
The Chinese Secretariat of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Pakistan Affairs Bureau of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor attended the meeting.
