Data from China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs showed that in the first quarter the number of dairy cows in the country grew by 0.4% year–on-year, while the output of fresh milk rose by 7.9% year on year, which shows that not only is the output of China's dairy industry increasing but also there is an increase in the production level during the epidemic. It can be said that in the face of the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the capacity of China's livestock industry has remained stable, and this industry has gained good breeding benefits.
It should be noted that the fundamentals of China's dairy industry being revitalized have not changed and the environment for the revitalization of China's dairy industry has generally improved. Dairy consumption demand is increasing; dairy enterprises have a high enthusiasm for development and production. In 2019, Chinese dairy consumption exceeded 50 million tons for the first time, but per capita consumption was less than 100 grams per day, only one-third of the world average. Nevertheless, this gap can bring both potential and motivation. It is believed that dairy consumption will rebound after the pandemic, and the level of dairy consumption per capita will continue to rise.
