On May 28, Zhao Yide, Secretary of Provincial Committee of the CPC, and Zhao Gang, Provincial Governor met with Zhang Ming , the SCO’s Secretary General and his delegation in Yangling District.
At the meeting, Zhao Yide welcomed Zhang’s visit to Shaanxi province to attend the SCO Forum on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development. Zhao Yide said that China is a founding member of the SCO, and that President Xi Jinping proposed at the 22nd meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State to build a closer SCO community of destiny last year, which has pointed the way of the SCO’s development at the next stage. In recent years, Shaanxi province has given full play to its advantages in agricultural science and technology, accelerated the construction of the SCO Demonstration Base for Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training, and established closer ties and deeper cooperation with SCO member countries. At present, Shaanxi is actively implementing own outcomes of the first China-Central Asia Summit, integrating more deeply into the whole picture of building the “Belt and Road” based on its important positioning, and striving to write a Shaanxi chapter under the modernization with Chinese characteristics. Zhao hopes that the SCO Secretariat will continue to support the construction of SCO agricultural bases, help Shaanxi and SCO member states closely exchange with each other, deepen agriculture-related training, and expand international trade in agriculture, and promote the synergistic development of modern agriculture in the region.
Zhang Ming said that Shaanxi province has good conditions for opening up to both the inner world and the outside world, and the SCO Secretariat will play an active role in continuously promoting exchanges and cooperation between Shaanxi and the member states, thus trying to achieve more practical cooperation.
Wang Lin, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Provincial Committee and Secretary General of the Provincial Party Committee, Wang Haipeng, Secretary General of the Provincial Government, and responsible person in relevant departments of Shaanxi province attended the meeting.
