Water is the "lifeblood" of agriculture. We are now at the China Institute of Water Conservation in Dry Areas of Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University. Focusing on arid and semi-arid areas, this institute will study and reveal the water demand process of crop life and health, explore the mechanism of "water, soil, air and life" interaction, study the ecological control of rainfall runoff, and improve the yield and quality of crops in dry areas through water-saving technology development in agriculture.
Factory-based intelligent agriculture that overcomes natural environmental constraints has become a new practice for developing modern agriculture. In the intelligent greenhouses of Yangling Smart Agriculture Demonstration Park, the world's leading new agricultural technology, new varieties and new models are integrated. Lettuce and small tomatoes are all grown in the substrate and nutrition is automatically transported through pipes, and all this is automatically controlled by an intelligent digital system. This is also one of the practical training bases of the SCO Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training Demonstration Base.

Relying on more than 7,000 experts in agriculture, science and education from Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University and Yangling Institute of Vocational Technology, Yangling Demonstration Zone has actively fulfilled its national mission. Based on Shaanxi, the Demonstration Zone has promoted the agricultural development of the dry zone. While serving the whole country and facing the world, the Zone insisted on taking concentrated contiguous poor areas as the main target of science and technology poverty alleviation, and explored the formation of Technology Marketing Model indicating "universities, industrial chains, science and technology experts, agricultural training, media and exhibitions" are six main marketing roles. And to open up the "last mile" of science access to help the poor.
Build bases as shining examples to farmers. Yangling has built 300 science and technology demonstration and promotion bases in poor areas of China, and the new technologies and varieties promoted each year cover more than 100 million mu, helping small business to form a big industry. Apples, kiwis, grapes, jujubes, tea, Qinchuan cattle, dairy goats, and other special agriculture have become rich industries in poor areas of rural regions, and Yangling technology has benefited tens of millions of poor people.
Focus on education, and emphasize on farmers’ training. In response to the industrial development and farmers' needs in poor areas, more than 500,000 farmers have been trained, and more than 16,000 people have been certified as qualified professional farmers, becoming "soil experts" and "new farmers" rooted in rural areas.
Solve problems for local areas and help farmers to get rich. We assign science and technology service teams to impoverished areas, aggregate different professional talents, set up working groups with varied characteristic industries, crack issues in local areas with our technological strength, and promote industrial development and farmers' income in impoverished areas.
