On 2 March 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming had a meeting at the Secretariat with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the People's Republic of China Tuvshin Badral.
The officials discussed interaction between Mongolia, which has been an SCO observer state since 2004, and the SCO, including more intense cooperation in politics, economy, culture, and the humanitarian sphere. It was stressed that the SCO Secretariat and the Mongolian Embassy in China have always been ready for dialogue.
Tuvshin Badral confirmed his country's interest in developing multilateral collaboration with the SCO member states, including in regional transport connectivity, and in participating in events organised by the SCO Secretariat.
